I am using 100 watts and lots of times less then that due to using a non-resonate multi-band EF barely 35 feet off the ground with a little FT-450D. I have had to do that with several entities just to get one usable confirmation.

HAM RADIO LOGBOOK FOR LOTW AND QRZ FULL
Work full time and still have a young family too. I am going on 5 years and still trying to get it! I also have a life and don’t sit in the chair near as much as I should. Throwing money and power at the problem does not make any instant either, it just means you work a lot of boring DX, even with my spit wad station I can work 20 or 30 USA stations on 40m in the evening on FT8 or a half dozen CW or SSB stations and all that more power is going to do is mean I have more log stuffers and boring DX.Ĭlick to expand.Same exact set-up here Rob. Its not instant gratification and its not hard work, its just an exercise in patience and waiting for the conditions to suit my simple station. I could buy an amp, put up a tower and a yagi, and make everything much easier, but, I like to play radio in simple terms. Mostly they are KW stations with beams and im a 50W station with a vertical. I do not work every station I hear, there is a lot of DX that just do not hear me at all, places like the Middle East and the Caribbean I have spent months trying to work. 900 days is not instant gratification, its a long bloody time, Why did it take so long? Because I have a modest station with small antenna, less than 100w of power and because I do not sit at the radio all day every day, I actually have a life. It took me 900 days to earn DXCC digital with FT8. You really should try FT8 Tony, you will soon realize and appreciate that its not instant gratification, especially so if you have a modest station with wire antenna and 100w or less.
